No stamp duty on premiums is due by policyholders residing outside Switzerland or Liechtenstein.

Premiums paid for unit-linked life insurance are not tax deductible.

With effective from 1 January 2005, the conditions for a tax-effective solution in Germany are as follows:

1. The minimum contract duration must be 12 years.
2. No benefits are payable until after the policyholder’s 60th birthday.

Some experts say that investment switches within the policy are not allowed during the first 12 years of the contract. There is a risk that the fiscal authorities will adopt this rule.
